Advent - Preparing the Way

Pants on Fire

One of the first retorts that we learn as children is, "Liar! Liar! Pants on fire!" We are quick to call someone's bluff and then to come back at them with the truth. The ultimate liar is Satan. Whatever your image of him might be, it has to include the truth of who he is--the father of all lies. His goal is to destroy us and God's work through us. We will spend five weeks examining some of Satan's biggest lies. We will call his bluff and we will combat them with the truth.

When In Rome

When you or I go to Rome, we are supposed to see the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Spanish Steps and St. Peter’s Square. When Paul went to Rome, he didn’t have a travel agent’s itinerary in hand. It wasn’t about sightseeing. He was going there to spread the gospel further into Europe. Before he went, God inspired him to write what is considered the premier letter of doctrine and theology that we have today. Join us for a six-week study about the instructions of what we should do when in Rome… or anywhere else.

David: A Man After God's Own Heart

Only God could take a humble shepherd boy and turn him into one of the greatest heroes in history. Far from perfect, David's life is filled with many peaks and valleys. His biography reads like a bad soap opera. He is one of the most famous musicians of all time. He was one of the last people you'd expect to lead a nation. He was a murderer and adulterer. He brought peace to a nation that was torn apart. Yet, somehow, God saw fit to raise David up and to call him a "man after my own heart." We have a lot to learn from this amazing man of faith and action.

The Jesus I Never Knew

Brilliant. Creative. Unbelievable. Compassionate. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when we think of Jesus. But who is Jesus, really? Why did He come? What legacy did He leave? Why does He even matter? For many of us, our understanding of Jesus is tainted a bit by our own preconceived notions or “nice” lessons from our past. During this season of Lent, we will uncover some of the important information about this history-changing person. Join us as we learn about the Jesus we never knew.

Lifelines

Ask almost anyone and they'll tell you, "I should pray more." It's a universal theme. We all recognize that prayer is one of the most essential parts of our relationship with God. Whatever form it takes--long, sustained times of reflection or a "quick-hitter" before a difficult task or an exam--prayer is one of the common bonds that most of us share. Join us for a three-week experience about this irreplaceable lifeline.

The Bible Says That?!

One Night in Bethlehem

The world waited thousands of years for Messiah’s arrival. No baby has ever been more anticipated, which is ironic, since almost no one thought he would come as a baby. The expectations of Jesus’ arrival were almost completely unfulfilled. And yet, history hinges on his debut. This time of year, we focus on one night in Bethlehem. Tradition paints a quaint image. Reality is much different. You are invited to join us at Cornerstone and explore the reality of one night in Bethlehem.

Church. Simple.

Some of the last words of Jesus on earth were, “Make disciples.” Simple. No frills. Just, “Make disciples.” The Church has spent the better part of the last twenty centuries making it much more difficult. We produce great ministry programs, some pretty good music and many world-class leaders. But do we produce disciples? More importantly, do we even know how?
Join us for a six-week study on being simple—going back to the roots of what Jesus told us to do. “Make disciples.” Simple.

We Have an App for That

There are over 250,000 apps that have been downloaded over 5 billion times to iPhones alone. What is the purpose? If you believe the hype, the purpose is to make our lives better. At Cornerstone we believe there are just nine primary apps – we call them the core values. Their purpose is to make church life better. God clearly defines each of these apps in His Word and asks us to apply them in obedience to Him. Join us at Cornerstone as we explore the apps we believe should be downloaded through the church into your life. Then, get ready for the ultimate upgrade!

Slow Down to See

The Bible Jesus Read

From the beginning to the end of our life, we hunger for community.
It’s not just how we were created – it’s why! God, who enjoys relationship
within His being as Father, Son and Holy Spirit designed us to reflect
His nature through loving and life-giving relationship with Him and with
each other. Through the first five books of Bible, the Pentateuch, we’ll learn
that only by participating in God’s plan for community can the longing
of our hearts be satisfied.
