Ben Newman
Senior Pastor
Ben has been at Cornerstone since 2007. He graduated with a Master’s of Divinity degree from Columbia International University in South Carolina. He is married to his lovely wife Sue and has two children: Karis and Timothy. When he’s not working, you’ll find him spending time with his wife and two kids, backpacking or watching college football.
David began serving as the Worship Director at Cornerstone in August, 2019, after moving to the La Crosse area with his awesome wife, Brianna. He is passionate about helping people encounter God through music and the arts. He is also a huge Lord of the Rings nerd, and enjoys reading pretty much anything in the fantasy genre.
Jenny started as the Administrative Assistant here at Cornerstone in August of 2021. She has always been passionate about healthcare and helping those in need. She loves her family, exercising, and spending time with her emotional support pets.
Caleb Luttenegger
Youth Director
Caleb began serving as the Youth Director for our joint youth program between Cornerstone and Northside Community Churches in August of 2021. His desire is to share the truth and love of the Gospel with young people in order that they may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and guide them to become true disciples who are driven to live out and share their faith with others. He enjoys just about anything that is fun (from video games to fishing and hiking). He considers himself a jack of all trades, but the things he enjoys the most are disc golf and playing music.
Our Overseers
Eric Warner
Overseer
Eric is from Minneapolis. He has been going to Cornerstone since 2015. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and earned degrees in history and law. He is employed as a Compliance Analyst at Kaplan Inc. He is married to Toni Matters and has two children, Lucy and Vivienne, both currently in college. Eric came to his faith later in life, in his 30s. For fun he likes to fish, birdwatch, read, hike, cook and game!
Bridgette Bixler
Overseer
Bridgette has been at Cornerstone since 2019. She has served in the Guest Services team and loves meeting new people and growing relationships. She became on Overseer in 2020. She is an RN on a neuroscience unit and loves learning new things!
Suzie Pence
Overseer
Suzie has been at Cornerstone since her college days in early 2000s. She began working with children in KIDZone shortly thereafter, and has been the Ministry Leader since 2014. She is married to Jeremy and they have two children: Samuel and Sophia.
Emily Mathews
Overseer
Emily is originally from Fargo, North Dakota and has been attending Cornerstone since 2021 after moving to La Crosse. She married her husband Ryan in 2023 and they have recently welcomed their first child into the family! In her free time she enjoys hiking, drinking coffee, and crocheting.
Hope has been at Cornerstone since she moved to La Crosse in 2015. She serves on the worship team, and loves both helping to lead the congregation and serving behind the scenes. She’s married to Brad and has one daughter. She enjoys reading, camping and hiking with her greyhound, Katy.
Matt Sheehy
Overseer
Although Matt was born in Green Bay, he has lived in the La Crosse area for most of his life. He has been attending Cornerstone since 2010. As a mail carrier, Matt enjoys interacting with new people and spending time outdoors. He is a dog enthusiast, owning two dogs named Sydney and Leinie, and enjoys training and competing in agility with them.

Guest Services Ministry Leaders
John and Maurita’s journey towards being fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ started some time ago. John had not attended church for the better part of 30 years. When he met his wife Maurita, she helped him with a longing to deepen his faith. They found Cornerstone in 2016 and since then have both grown in their relationship with Jesus. They love being involved with a church that is passionate about reaching people for Christ.
