– Our Coronavirus Reopening Plan –

Guidance for Our Reopening Plans

First and foremost will abide by any laws or mandates given by local, state and federal officials.

For the last two months, we have been using the Coulee COVID-19 Compass as our determining factor in how we gather on Sunday mornings. With the county’s decision to no longer utilize the compass, we have re-evaluated our process. To give more long-term clarity, support our community and contribute to its well-being, Cornerstone leadership has decided to make decisions about in person services that coincide with our local school district. So when the La Crosse School District is holding classes online only, we will do the same for our worship services. When they return to in-person instruction, we will resume our in person services. The current school district plan is to start the year virtually through September. They will re-evaluate and make announcements with at least two weeks’ notice. That will be Cornerstone’s plan as well. We encourage you, as you are comfortable, to worship with friends, family and life groups in your home.

Cornerstone will hold services online-only from now through September.

While La Crosse County no longer uses the compass,
the general information below still pertains to our in person service plans.

Seating Reservations

We will utilize an online registration system for those who wish to attend in person. If the Coulee COVID-19 Compass is not in the red category, we will put a link to the system on our website and on our social media accounts on Wednesday after the Compass is updated. Registrants will have the option to sit on the Second Story video venue or on the third floor.

We are currently not meeting in person.

What to Expect

Masks will be required, per health department recommendations, whenever we are in the orange (high risk) category.

There will be temperature checks utilizing contactless digital thermometers at the entrance door. Anyone with a temperature of 100.3 or higher will be asked to leave immediately and advised to seek medical care to evaluate symptoms.

Per CDC Guidelines, please do not attend an in-person service if you have any of these symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Per CDC Guidelines, if you think you may have COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19, you can safely return to church only after:

  • 3 days of no fever and
  • Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) and
  • 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared

Water coolers will not be available. We will provide small individual bottles of water or you are encouraged to bring your own water bottle.

Second Story and Kidzone will not be held until further notice. Children are encouraged to attend the service with their families and should be included in the online seat registration. There will be no congregational singing until further notice. However, worship music will be played.

There will be ongoing disinfection of frequently touched surfaces before, during and after service.

Services will last approximately 45 minutes. At the conclusion of each service, people will be dismissed one floor at a time. Everyone is encouraged to go immediately to the exit and continue conversations outside.

Capacity and Seating Arrangements

When the Coulee COVID-19 Compass is in the orange category, the guidelines for indoor worship services are 25% room capacity. In the yellow (moderate risk) category, the guidelines are 50% room capacity.

We will observe recommended social distancing for seating. A minimum of six feet will be required between people from different households. In the third floor auditorium, this is maintained by keeping one row of chairs and four adjacent chairs between people from different households.
